Ace the Interview: Creating a Good First Impression

A Job InterviewFirst impressions last, they say. This adage has always rung true for many people and situations. Generally, first impressions are among what a person gauges you with. They base this on different factors.

Therefore, a good first impression is important for job interviews. It will not only help you land a job, it will also improve your credibility to the recruiter, which may cause them to recommend you to other prospective employers. And this is easier than you think.

Here are some of the ways you can create a good first impression.

Mind what you wear.

Whether you are applying at recruiters, such as HGV driving agency or at a corporate business, it is important that you look professional with what you are wearing. If the job is not corporate in nature, go for a smart casual look anyway. Throw on a blazer. Wear smart shoes (brogues and heels), and keep your pants slim.

Watch your body language.

Confidence manifests in more ways than one. If you are not that confident, it will show in your actions. So be mindful of your body language. Do not fidget and hold up your hand frequently. Stand up straight to demonstrate control and power, but don’t be too stiff. To be confident, give yourself some time to relax. Practise and be yourself.

Be on time.

While you will still be given a leeway, do not go beyond it. Do your best to be on time. By being on time, you respect your recruiters time as well. It will also give them the impression that you are earnest and responsible.

These are just some of the things to keep in mind if you want to build a good impression with your recruiter. While waiting for your interview schedule, practise your answers and decide on what to wear.
